Our Best Vegetarian CBD Treats for Cats
Contrary to popular belief, cats do like some vegetables. You might be more apt to give your cat cheese or tuna for a special treat, but they might beg for these instead.
Coconut and Carrot Crunchy CBD Croutons
1 dose of CBD per treat (see dosage guide above)
1 tablespoon catnip
1 cup coconut flour
3 tablespoons finely grated carrots
1 tablespoon extra light olive oil
Water (1 -2 tablespoons)
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.
Soak the catnip in the CBD oil. Add the carrots and olive oil. Beat lightly. Beat the egg in a separate bowl and then mix it in with the other wet ingredients. Add the coconut flour and fold. The dough will be dry, so add a tablespoon of water at a time to make it workable.
Break off very small pieces of dough to look like rustic croutons. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes or until they look dry on top.
Cool completely before serving to your cat. To get an appropriate dose, try to make your croutons all the same size.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
Pumpkin and Polenta Bites
1 dose of CBD oil per treat (see above guide)
1 cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons pure pumpkin puree
1 ½ cups quick cooking polenta
3 tablespoons light olive oil
Place the yogurt in a saucepot and turn the heat onto medium low. Allow the yogurt to liquefy. Add the pumpkin and CBD oil. Stir until combined. Add the polenta and stir continuously while turning the heat up to medium. Cook for 10 minutes and turn off the heat. Mix in the olive oil.
Spread the polenta out onto a thin baking sheet. Cover it and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour. Cut into tiny squares for your cat. A treat or two should be good. Keep these in an airtight container for up to one week in the refrigerator.
Frozen Banana Blueberry Bites
½ cup blueberries
1 dose CBD oil per expected treat
½ cup yogurt
In a blender, blend the banana and blueberries. Add the CBD oil and then the yogurt. Spoon teaspoons of the mixture out onto a silicone sheet and place it in the freezer.
Remove and store the treats in a freezer safe container.
These CBD treats for cats can be altered if your pet has sensitivities to yogurt or any other ingredient. You might be making batches of these CBD treats for cats a little more often once your feline friend gets a taste of them. You can also change these recipes to include meat such as tuna, salmon or chicken if you wish.
