26 Sep CBD and Apple Treats for your Pets
Your pets probably join you in the kitchen when you’re cooking. They probably want what you have. These CBD and apple treats recipes can be for both of you to share. You can change the ingredients slightly for your portion since pets can’t have all of the same ingredients that humans can, but sharing a special homemade treat with them might make them feel extra special.
CBD Apple Chips for Pets
Do your pets love apples? It just so happens to be apple season. The best of the best are now in stores, farmers markets and roadside stands. It’s the best time of the year to stock up on some fun apple chips for you and your best furry friend.
2-3 apples of your choice
Sprinkle of cinnamon
This recipe is quite simple. Preheat your oven to just 200 degrees. Wash and dry your apples. Core them. Slice them into thin rounds or thin slices. Toss them in just a slight sprinkle of cinnamon. Place them onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 1 hour. Flip them and bake another hour.
When the apples come out of the oven, take just 1 drop of the Pet Health CBD tincture of your choice and place it on each apple. Use a pastry brush to spread it around.
If 1 drop is your pet’s normal dose (for very small pets, it could be their dose), then just give them 1 apple chip. Try measuring out your pet’s dose of CBD in drops so that you know how many drops they normally would get. This will help you know how many treats they can have.
For your apple chips, add a little more cinnamon and a few cracks of black pepper. Use your favorite CBD tincture on top and combine it with a little cinnamon sugar.
Store your apple chips and your pet’s apple chips separately.
Oat and Apple Pretzels
Fresh pretzels right out of the oven are often an indulgent treat for humans, but a cooled freshly baked pretzel is also a great treat for your dogs. These have a special ingredient though – a little bit of CBD. These are easy to make and store well when sealed tightly.
2 cups gluten-free oat flower
¾ cup rolled oats
1 beaten egg
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon freshly pressed apple juice
1 dropper Pet Health Organic Olive Oil Tincture (or measure individual doses for the number of pretzels made)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add parchment paper to a baking sheet.
Combine the applesauce, oats and oat flower in a bowl.
Beat the egg and reserve 1 tablespoon in a small container. Place the rest of the egg into the dough mixture.
The dough will be quite sticky.
Take a tablespoon amount of the dough and roll it into a snake. Make a pretzel shape.
When all of the dough is used, brush the reserved beaten egg on top.
Bake for 25 – 30 minutes.
While the pretzels bake, mix the Pet Health CBD Organic Olive Oil Tincture with the pressed apple juice.
When it comes to ensuring you’re using the right amount of Pet Health CBD tincture for your pet, it’s best to measure exact doses. Measure just enough to account for every pretzel made. If you are unsure of what the proper dose of CBD for your pet is, please refer to our CBD Dosage Guide for Pets.
Since you can have these pretzels too, feel free to sprinkle your portion with a little salt or cinnamon sugar. You can also use the amount of CBD that you wish for yourself.
When the pretzels come out of the oven, let them cool for just a few minutes. Then, brush the apple juice and CBD mixture over the top. Also feel free to add just a small dash of cinnamon or ginger to the apple juice mixture too.
When completely cooled, give your pet just 1 pretzel.
Pets love fruit. You can make these special treats for you and your pet to share. Store your portion/s separate from theirs. Airtight containers are best. If you have not made significant changes to the recipes to tell them apart, simply label each container.
