12 Mar Pet CBD St. Patrick’s Day Treats
If you consider your pet to be a member of the family, you want them to be able to celebrate holidays too. Chocolate and other sweets aren’t good for pets, so we’ve compiled some pet CBD St. Patrick’s Day treats just for them using ingredients that are safe for them. Food coloring also isn’t the best for pets, so we’ve got some alternative ways for them to still have green-colored treats without food coloring.
Making Natural “Dye” for Pet CBD St. Patrick’s Day Treats
Dogs can have both spinach and kale. You can juice these vegetables and use that to make the treats green. You can also steep them in water and wait until the color is nicely green. You’ll only need a small amount of the juice (typically a teaspoon or two) for the color of the recipe to be green.
Frozen Green Greek Yogurt CBD Cubes
This pet CBD St. Patrick’s Day treats recipe uses just a couple of ingredients. Simple is good when you’re making something special for your dog. If you have a shamrock silicone mold, feel free to use that. While dogs don’t know what a shape signifies, they’ll just know that they’re getting something yummy.
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 – 2 teaspoons spinach or kale juice
1 teaspoon honey
¼ cup homemade applesauce (all you have to do is peel and core apples, cut them into chunks and let them cook down with a little water and a dash of cinnamon. Please do not add sugar)
For this recipe, just mix all of the ingredients except the CBD tincture in a bowl until everything is incorporated.
Spoon the Greek yogurt mixture into small ice cube molds or small shamrock molds. Place 1 dose of pet CBD tincture in each portion and mix with a toothpick.
Freeze for at least 2 hours.
Only give your pet one of these treats. If you are only giving them these treats for their CBD for the day, they can have 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Do not give these treats along with a regular dose of CBD as it will double the dose, which may not be appropriate for all pets.
Green Rice Balls with Chicken
These tasty treats can be made in advance. You can easily add the dose of CBD to the finished treat so that only 1 treat has the CBD in it. Your dog may want more than one, but they should only get 1 dose of CBD twice a day that is accurately measured.
1 cup cooked brown rice
¼ cup cooked chicken
1 teaspoon fresh parsley
1 teaspoon spinach or kale juice
1 dose of pet CBD tincture per serving of rice balls
Couple of tablespoons of parmesan cheese (if your dog tolerates dairy)
Start by adding the rice and chicken to a food processor. Start to mix so it starts to form a paste. Add in the egg, parsley, spinach/kale juice and parmesan cheese. Blend until combined.
Remove the food processor blade and use a 1 oz. scoop to scoop out portions. Roll each portion in your hand to make a ball.
Bake for about 8 minutes at 375 degrees.
Allow each ball to cool. Small dogs should have 2 per serving while larger dogs can have 3 or 4 per serving. Only add the pet CBD dose to 1 rice ball in the serving.
These fun treats will have your pet celebrating right along with you. They might beg for more, which is why it’s a good idea to make some of the frozen Greek yogurt cubes with CBD and some without (make sure you label them). This is also why we suggest adding the CBD to only 1 rice ball per serving too. Pets need a specific, accurate dose of CBD based on their exact weight.
